In March 1931, Governor Fred Balzar signed into law the bill legalizing gambling in the state of Nevada; the Silver State has more mountain ranges than any other state, with its highest point being the 13,145 feet Boundary Peak near its west-central border; Nevada is the largest gold-producing state in the nation, second in the world only to South Africa; Frank Sinatra once owned the Cal-Neva Lodge at Lake Tahoe's Crystal Bay. It is possible to stand in both Nevada and California inside the Cal-Neva's lobby lounge, and in its swimming pool.

Founded in 2005, NTA was an outgrowth of awareness by Nevada’s tourism industry leadership that without a unified stance by all disparate businesses that comprise that industry, agendas by non-tourism supporters could gain political and public momentum.

Nevada has long been a favored location for the development of new tourism friendly attractions – and its cities have embraced the influx of visitors for both leisure and business.  We have become a “favored state” in conventions, trade shows and exhibitions, the unquestioned leader as a vacation magnet and a prominent member of the most-esteemed global travel markets.

This position, however, needs nurturing and care – for without it, Nevada can receive a lower ranking, fewer visitors and demonstrably less revenue.  We must stand together – resort hotel-casinos and suppliers to those properties, if we expect our world-class tourism economy to continue to prosper.  If we do not believe fully in the necessity of synergy in tourism development, we shall surely falter.

For these reasons, we thank you for joining the efforts of the Nevada Tourism Alliance (NTA) in assuring that Nevada’s tourism economy remains intact and as powerful an economic engine as it possibly can be.  As part of your membership, you can expect to receive the following during each calendar year:

  • A responsive and communicative board of directors
  • A review of crucial issues of concern to the various segments of the tourism and tourism support industries
  • Advocacy on behalf of positions that will allow tourism to prosper
  • An agenda that accurately represents the NTA constituency
  • A comprehensive and informative monthly newsletter
  • Members only access to a secure NTA website
  • Semi-annual policy discussions with other NTA members and board of directors
  • Quarterly roundtable discussions with NTA members including key briefings by  renowned business leaders
  • Invitation to annual golf tournament and social event

Welcome to the new NTA and all that it stands to protect!
