reno_gazette_journal.gifRAY HAGAR, RENO GAZETTE-JOURNAL (4/23/2008)-- Two Northern Nevada political icons said the state teachers union's initiative petition that would increase taxes on the gaming industry 44 percent would harm casinos and public education in Nevada's small towns and counties.

The president of the Nevada State Education Association, however, disagreed, saying that money from the plan would be distributed fairly throughout the state on a per-pupil basis.
