rj_redlogo.gifED VOGEL, LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL (2/24/2009)-- CARSON CITY — The state Assembly, on a 35 to 7 vote today, supported increasing the hotel room tax by 3 percentage points in Clark and Washoe counties.

Fiscal analysts say the tax would bring in $233 million in the next two years. Gov. Jim Gibbons has already indicated his support and has included the revenue in his two-year budget.

All 28 Democrats and 7 of 14 Republicans supported the proposal, which now goes to the Senate for action.
