 BEN MUTZABAUGH, USA TODAY (2/23/2009)-- US Airways will no longer charge passengers for non-alcoholic beverages. The Arizona Republic
writes the airline is "bowing to customer grumbling and a lack of
response from competitors." The policy reversal takes effect March 1.
The Republic adds US Airways "is the only major U.S. airline
to charge for non-alcoholic beverages and until now has been largely
unapologetic for the $1-$2 fees and other new charges instituted last
summer when fuel prices were escalating.
